The honest first question is whether you need a carrier at all. For a move inside Dehradun, or a short hop to Haridwar or Rishikesh, driving the car yourself is usually simplest. Transport starts to make sense once the distance is long, when nobody in the family wants to drive it, when the car is going to a city where you will arrive days later, or when you have a second vehicle and only one driver.
Two-wheelers are different. Riding a bike from Dehradun to Delhi or Bengaluru is a long, tiring trip with luggage, so most families send the bike with their household goods. It goes on the same booking, and it is packed and loaded by the same crew.
We walk around the car with you and photograph every panel, the bumpers, glass, wheels and interior. Existing scratches and dents are marked on the report.
The odometer reading and the fuel level go on the report, along with what stays in the car: spare wheel, jack, tool kit and floor mats.
You and our representative both sign the report. You keep a copy. Hand over one set of keys and keep the spare with you.
The car is driven up onto a covered carrier, the wheels are chocked and it is strapped down so it cannot move on the road.
For the handover, keep these to hand. Give copies for the paperwork and keep the originals safe with you, then carry them when you collect the vehicle in case they are asked for on the way or at delivery.
A bike is the most easily damaged thing on a household truck if it is simply rolled on and leaned against the cartons. It needs its own packing.
Helmets, riding jackets, covers and chargers for electric scooters travel in a labelled carton, not hanging from the handlebar. The condition of the bike is photographed before wrapping, just like a car.

At delivery, take your copy of the condition report and walk around the vehicle before signing, in daylight if possible. Check the panels, glass, wheels and interior, and make sure the accessories on the list are there. If you find anything new, write it on the delivery note there and then. It is much harder to raise a problem after the carrier has gone.
Goods-in-transit insurance is included in the quote. If your car or bike is new or high value, ask about declared-value cover before the move.

Please don't. Loose goods inside a car are not covered by the vehicle condition report and can shift and damage the interior. Tell us what you wanted to put in the boot and we will carton it with the rest of your goods.
Keep the RC, a copy of the current insurance policy, the PUC certificate and a copy of your ID ready at handover. Keep the originals safe with you and carry them when you collect the car in case they are asked for.
Keep it low, enough to drive the car on and off the carrier and to the nearest fuel station at the other end. For two-wheelers, the fuel is drained to a safe level before loading.
